WebBuglawton was a township in Astbury ancient parish, Northwich hundred (SJ 8663), which became a civil parish in 1866. The civil parish was abolished in 1936 to become parts of Congleton, Eaton (near Congleton) and North Rode. It included the hamlets of Dane-in-Shaw, Havannah, Key Green, and Timbersbrook. In 1947 there was discussion about the local authority buying the building for use as a grammar school. In 1950 it was purchased by Manchester City Council. The school was opened in 1954 as a school for maladjusted children. The school was residential and had the capacity to take 41 children.
