While most all of the realized Maggie’s Centres have been horizontal buildings, the centre at St Bartholomew’s is more vertical, sitting on the historically charged site. WebThe hospital was founded, with the Priory of St Bartholomew, in 1123 by Rahere – formerly a courtier of Henry I (1100-1135). There is no Foundation Charter, however the British Museum holds a medieval chronicle ‘The Book of the Foundation of St Bartholomew’s Church in London’ that describes the early existence of the hospital.
